The hacker stole the page and is now doing two things -

Slamming the page with random images to establish a history and try and claim the page as theirs

Messaging fans and asking for money!

Please do NOT fall victim! Facebook is refusing to remove the page and is doing nothing to help us get it back. You would think being verified by FB would hold some power but no. They seem to want to support the existence of hackers because it continues to make them money.

Lucie has set up a new page for me while we deal with this; please follow and like the page so we can migrate everyone over to a safe page:

https://www.facebook.com/michaelgrimmmusic2

You should also follow her page, just in case: https://www.facebook.com/luciejgrimm/

Between the two pages, you will stay up to date on everything going on.

As a personal favor, I am also asking you to do a couple things;

Please let fans on the original page know that it is no longer me! Let them know it has been hacked. The hacker has blocked me so I can no longer get on the page.
Michael Grimm is doing all that he can to get back onstage.

After spending weeks in a hospital followed by a stay at a physical therapy rehab facility, the America's Got Talent winner is back home and feeling stronger.

"I'm doing better every day," Grimm exclusively shared with The Messenger on Wednesday. "It's just been a whirlwind of things [that have] happened to my body for the years that I've put my body through hell."

The 44-year-old singer says he needed a physical and mental break after being hospitalized for a mystery illness.

And now that he's finally home, Grimm is hopeful that he can resume performing and doing what he loves.

"I am ready to get back in the saddle," he shared before teasing an August 9 concert event. “I'll be at the Smith Center in Las Vegas doing a tribute to my idol, my mentor, Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers. And I'll be back on my feet again when it comes to that, when it comes playing music. I'm looking forward to it. I feel much better so every day's a new day of getting better.”

He's also finalizing a 2024 tour with fellow America's Got Talent superstar Jackie Evancho. While exact dates and locations are expected to be announced later this year, Grimm is determined to be ready for the shows.

With his full speaking voice and his mobility back, Grimm is following full outpatient protocol with professionals working through his schedule of care, which includes re-establishing his singing voice, relearning the guitar, continuing mental health sessions and physical therapies.

According to Grimm, he couldn't have made this amount of progress without the love and support of his wife Lucie Grimm.

"She's my rock, my foundation, my light," he gushed. "I'm blessed to have her. She's definitely been through a lot recently with this."

As he continues his recovery, Michael said he is keeping his wife and higher power close as he counts his blessings.

In a June 12 update to fans, Zolcerva-Grimm revealed that Grimm’s health started becoming a concern around Memorial Day weekend after he experienced body tremors and difficulty speaking. He was then rushed to the ICU and placed on a ventilator under heavy medication so as to prevent him having a stroke or flatlining.

So the speech therapy portion of it has been very successful,” Zolcerva-Grimm said, adding that while her husband “doesn’t have a singing voice yet, he is not stressed over it. He feels that with proper vocal exercises and retraining he will get back on track.”

Grimm had also seen a large improvement over his mobility: “He is walking on his own and that’s a huge thing for us, getting that leg strength back, getting his coordination and his equilibrium back, those were all massive things. That’s probably his biggest win right now.”

The update came ahead of a planned four-hour benefit in Las Vegas to help pay for Grimm’s medical costs on July 9. In the video, Zolcerva-Grimm noted that her husband had recently been “struggling with his health” and that his symptoms — which included “lacking energy” — worsened on Memorial Day.

“He was looking increasingly sick. All of a sudden, he could barely walk,” she shared. Zolcerva-Grimm explained that she then took the blues musician to the emergency room, fearing that he was having a stroke, which “wasn’t the case.”

The Lucie’s Apothecary businesswoman noted that Grimm’s condition worsened once he got to the hospital where he “started talking gibberish” as “physical tremors” began to set in. He was then transferred to the ICU.

“Michael has been in [the] ICU all week. For the safety of his health, they had to put him on a ventilator and sedate him pretty heavily,” Zolcerva-Grimm said. “The good news is that the doctors were finally able to remove the ventilator today and he is breathing on his own. … They do still have him sedated so he doesn’t seize or flatline from the fluctuating blood pressure.”

The booking manager emphasized that the cause of her husband’s illness remains unknown and that doctors are isolating different organs to rule things out. She added that when Grimm is feeling better, he will have to undergo physical therapy due to spending a week in bed.

“He currently has no voice, he’s gotta go under vocal cord repair from time being on the ventilator,” Zolcerva-Grimm said.

Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/69873042022-06-07T17:06:46-07:002022-06-07T17:06:46-07:00New Merchandise Coming
We are excited to announce the introduction of new merchandise into the Michael Grimm Store. Upon the completion of The Red Album, the finances were drained too much to turn around and invest in a bulk order of new T-shirt designs for fans to enjoy but fans of course wanted souvenirs to go with the new release. So, we decided to partner up with a print-on demand company that would be able to utilize the amazing designs that Neal Portnoy created for the album and apply them to multiple products for fans to enjoy! There are of course both pros and cons to print-on-demand merchandise, but overall it will allow us to provide fans with a variety of merchandise in a multitude of designs without having to invest thousands of dollars in production and storage.

Lets talk about some of the pros to the print-on-demand service we have chosen. First off, it integrates seamlessly with our current storefront so fans won't even notice the difference. We chose a company that provided comparable quality in material to what we already provide and what fans expect from the Michael Grimm brand, so fans can shop with confidence knowing they are buying quality. There will be a lot more choices being added to the store in the coming months that will give fans a much bigger opportunity to show their support and sport their "Grimm Gear" without compromising their own sense of style.

The biggest con with print-on-demand is the wholesale cost. Since we are not buying items in large bulk, the cost of each individual item is almost triple, which means the overall wholesale cost is significantly higher. In order to make it affordable to our fans, we made the retail cost just slightly above wholesale, basically making sure all expenditures are covered, and the profits are a wash for the Michael Grimm Store. So why do it? It's simple. While merchandise is income, it is also a source of advertising. We are using this platform as a way to get the Michael Grimm name, brand, image and product out there - advertising, so the items made for print-on-demand we consider advertising items. It will not be all of the store.

The other con of this service is time. We do not stock these items and fans will not find them at shows. Fans will order them online. Once ordered, it will take up to 5 business days from the point of purchase to print & ship and then you have to account for shipping time. So your item(s) will take anywhere from 5-10 days to arrive. However, because it is all integrated together under one store, fans can order in-stock and print-on-demand merchandise in one order. They will ship separately and it will be notated on your packing slip accordingly.

So how can fans tell what is print-on-demand and what is in-stock? We will identify print-on-demand with a POD following the product title and you will see a separate additional shipping charge at checkout.

When is this all happening? This will all roll out with the release of The Red Album and continue throughout the summer and into fall. During this time we will also be designing new merchandise we intend on stocking, clearing out older merchandise - so look for clearance sales - and resurrecting some fan favorites.

We hope the new products will bring fans a new sense of Grimm spirit!
Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/69864042022-06-05T10:10:52-07:002022-06-05T10:10:52-07:00New Album Completed!
You may have seen posts for the first couple of singles ('Humdinger' and 'How You Are') and you may have even seen, or gone to, the Album Release Concert & Afterparty celebrating the completion of my latest album! It's true! My latest album entitled, The Red Album, is finished and those that supported the project by pre-ordering or attending the special event all received early copies. The album will be released on June 25th and it is something that I am really excited about.

This album is a collection of originals resurrected from my youth. I refers to these songs as my red-headed step children. Some were released when I was a teen and some were never heard. I wrote the majority of the songs both lyrically and musically. 'How You Are, ''Night Like Tonight,' and 'Don't Let Go' were lyrically collaborated on with the talented Kevin Hunter. While 'Dancing With Angels' and 'Taking Out The Trash' were co-written with Sturken & Rogers. I rounded the album off with a couple of covers that were personal to me - 'Rainbow Connection,' which is one of my favorite songs and 'Humdinger,' which I recorded when I was young and my wife has been bugging me to lay down on an official album. So, there it is.

The album was beautifully produced in Las Vegas by Bobby Ferrari at Skeleton Key Recording, the Las Vegas band I play with at Smith Center came in and played all the tracks, everyone put in their own DNA into the project and I feel like it might actually be one of my favorite works. To finalize the artistry of this album, I am so blessed to say that artist and friend Neal Portnoy (www.portnoygallary.com) offered to hand-draw my album cover. He even drew some of the insert graphics while watching the magic take place in the studio! It turned out to be the coolest thing ever! Lucie digitized it and did the graphic art on the album to put all the pieces together.

Without even realizing it or intending it, the album has several songs that will resinate with people given the state of affairs today. Most notably 'Sit Down And Shut Up,' "How You Are,' 'Rainbow Connection,' 'I Don't Want To Be Alone' and 'Taking Out The Trash.' While every person will find a song they resonate with more than another, these songs seem to capture a lot of what people want to say or are saying already. So, let me know which one resonates with you!

Facebook will have photos from the Album Release Concert and we did record it, so if you were unable to attend, you can watch it from the comfort of your own home here: WATCH.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and please, the biggest compliment you can give me is to share it with as many people as you can! Word of mouth is always the best advertising! Once venues opened back up, my team was focused on getting the band back onto the stage and making money. This does not mean that the livestreams are gone forever! Know that we will be resurrecting them. They may end up looking a little different, but we will bring them back.
Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/65651522021-03-04T15:09:19-08:002022-05-27T02:47:38-07:00It's Been A Year!
Can you believe it's been a year since we started Patreon? Time flies! Thank you all for being such dedicated fans! If you transferred your membership from Patreon to this website, your membership time is transferred over. I hope you enjoy the content that you get on this site. Always open to thoughts, suggestions or personal wishes.

If you are celebrating your 1 year marker as a member, keep an eye out for the mail! You have an anniversary gift arriving soon. Some of you are receiving videos and shout outs... look for those here and on social media. Much love to you all!
Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/65016842020-12-17T09:00:26-08:002022-05-23T07:16:24-07:002020 - What a mess!
This year was scheduled with so many shows, contests and special events in store. Unfortunately, it all got cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. It has affected peoples lives, incomes, careers and, in many cases, psyches. While many have taken advantage of government subsidies where available, in the end, it has put everyone in a rocky situation and many in debt. We are looking to end 2020 with a livestream to cheer up the world! A Christmas/Holiday special to bring some joy, laughs, distractions and a positive outlook on what lies ahead.

2021 is already looking brighter! Provided that we stay on the path to reopening, you can start scrolling through the many shows that are currently on the show schedule, with more being added everyday. Michael's residency at Smith Center will resume once the venue re-opens, which we are hoping will be by early summer. In the meantime, he will be performing wherever safe and possible. We will also continue to bring you livestreams whenever possible, contests will be revived and implemented late Spring, and backstage access and meet and greets will be implemented when safe to do so.

Also note that we are working on some new concert structures that will allow Michael and the band to perform in person, all over the US, with full social distancing and safety for all. More to come on that as it unravels.

"Hoping everyone stays healthy both physically and mentally, and wishing you all a wonderful holiday!" ~MG

We, of course, had to find out all the details so we sat down with Michael to get some answers.

Hello Michael.

– Hey, how are you doin’?

So we hear you are returning to America’s Got Talent.

– Yeah, you know.

How did that happen?

– Well, my manager received a call from the producers of The Champions show asking me if I would be interested in participating in the show. I honestly hadn’t ever thought about returning to do another competition and I really didn’t know what this show was about so I had to look into a little to see if it was something I wanted to get back into.

So my understanding is that The Champions show is a collection of past winners from all of the different “Got Talent” shows from all over the world.

– Yeah, I believe it’s winners, fan favorites and runners up.

Is that why you had hesitation?

– Well honestly, it wasn’t just the thought of competing against the best that made this opportunity something I had to think about. People don’t realize the pressure and anxiety that come with being in a show like that.

Can you tell us a little more about that?

– Well it’s a combination of things, you know? It’s long hours, a lot of pressure to pick the right material and then the pressure to present that material to the best of your ability. There is costuming, which is tricky because you want to be represented the way you see yourself and not current trends. Then there is the photography, publicity, interviews and that all happens before you even get on stage. So all the build up can ultimately build up a lot of anxiety and stress because not only do you have to deliver on what you have presented but now you are going to be judged by a panel, by America and against other talent. It’s a lot.

But you’ve been on TV before, you have performed in front of tens of thousands of people, even along side iconic stars like Heart, Stevie Nicks, Bill Medley, are you saying the pressure still gets to you?

– Well sure. You are putting yourself out there for everyone to see, criticize… you are basically opening the doors to judgement. That can be a burden for anyone in entertainment. People don’t realize the amount of preparation that goes into that performance they go to see.

So you agreed to do Season 2 of The Champions show.

– Yeah. After a lot of contemplation, I decided to go ahead and do it.

How do you feel about that decision?

– Now that I’ve committed, I’m pretty nervous about it (laughs). I realized that I would have to re-live all those pressures and anxieties I felt the first time around.

Can you tell us what you will sing?

– Not sure yet. Still deciding.

Well, we know it will be amazing no matter what it is.

– Well, thank you. I appreciate the vote of confidence (laughs).

There you have it folks. Michael will be back on NBC starting January 6th to compete on The Champions Show. Tune in and cheer him on!
Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/64546822019-09-20T10:25:00-07:002022-03-10T03:09:06-08:00Smith Center Extended through 2020!
We are thrilled to announce that Michael Grimm’s exclusive Las Vegas Residency at Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center has been extended through 2020!

Michael Grimm is preparing for an August run of the South and this time he is bringing variety! It has been about two years since he last played Texas & Mississippi, excluding his solo performance in late April for a local fundraiser, and Michael decided that this time he wants to give the fans something different. This August, Michael Grimm is hitting the south with not only his southern charm & bluesy voice but with a band!

Texas dates will feature a powerhouse trio direct from Las Vegas including drummer Earl Campbell and bassist Colin Hotchkiss, who was part of Michael’s latest album “Grimm.” For the Mississippi stop in Biloxi, Michael is planning on flying his full Las Vegas band for a concert like his hometown hasn’t seen since his AGT win. Rumor has it that his band will be as big as 7 pieces and they are getting ready to tear the house down. The tour ends in Baton Rouge, LA for a raw solo acoustic performance that is planned to be intimate and rewarding for all fans.

The question on everyone’s mind is what kind of music will the shows consist of? Will it all be material off the new album?

“I plan on doing something a little different at each location. Yes, I will play a few songs off the new album, but that is not going to be the focus of the tour. I just want to reconnect with my fans and give them a little bit of everything; the stuff they want to hear and some that they won’t expect!” says Michael Grimm

Finally I was able to witness this myself… What an experience! I can tell you one thing: SEAT Music Session has totally blown me away.

This year is the 7th year that this event, with its unique 360° stage is on tour throughout the entire country. Never have I been able to be so close to the band and the artists, which by the way, have given me the feeling of being part of this show from the very beginning.

Experiencing soundcheck

We were lucky enough to have been invited to experience soundcheck as well – thanks to SEAT for the invitation! The reception was super nice and sincere. The girls working there really seemed like a family. They then accompanied us to the venue, where Phil Dankner and his band were soundchecking already. Already during soundcheck I realized, that this will be a great evening with many unforgettable moments.

After the soundcheck was done, we were invited, together with the SEAT Ambassadors, to enjoy a little aperitif on the upper floor. Immediately my eyes started to glow and my heart warmed up. Not because I was close to starving, nope, the reason for being so happy: the snacks they served were, just like me, Spanish! Tortilla, Paella, a good glas of Spanish wine or a ice cold San Miguel beer. My Spanish heart was happy!

Let the show begin!

Right on time, we sat down on comfy lounge stools at 8pm to enjoy this special music-experience. Michael Grimm, the winner of the US casting show “America’s Got Talent” opened up the show. With his warm but still somewhat raspy voice, he performed 2 of his own songs and won over the audience in a heartbeat.

Next up was swiss popsinger Marina Ortega. You could tell that she’s comfortable on stage. As her second song, she performed her original song “Eleven”.

Damian Lynn, who was awarded the Prix Walo for „Best Swiss Upcoming Artist”, was up next. With just his guitar, a loop station and his voice, he enchanted the entire audience. I haven’t known him until then, but I’m sure that he has the potential to be the next best thing, especially with the young girls ?

Shayna Steele managed to get everyone out of their seats and excited. Her powerful R’n’B voice has helped her get on peoples radar. She definitely isn’t a newcomer anymore with collaborations with Snarky Puppy or appearances Jimmy Fallon, Conany O’Brien or at the Grammy’s.

With his passionate voice, with just the right amount of soul, german musician and producer Laith Al-Deen was the last of the 5 artists to go on stage. I was totally looking forward to him, and let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed. His debus single from a few years ago “Bilder von Dir” had everyone singing along. When he sang one of his newer hits “Was Wenn Alles Gut Geht” gave me goosebumps all over.

We’re ready for part II

After a 30min break, part II was about to start. The same artists went back on stage, this time they performed together, as duo’s trio’s and at the end all of them together. They covered songs like Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me” or Train’s “Drops of Jupiter”.

As an encore and unfortunately last song, everyone came back on stage to perform a little Stevie Wonder medley. The audience thanked them with a great round of applause that almost wouldn’t stop.

I personally thought the show was over way too fast. I have to admit, I had no idea what kind of show I was about to experience and how wonderful the music will be. I was super surprised and am still fascinated.

The SEAT Music Session is still on tour until November 7th. Most of the dates are sold out already, but there are still a couple left. So go check out their website for more info. I can highly recommend this to you, it really was a great show. Also, tickets for next years tour are on sale already. The 2 first acts are confirmed as well. Johannes Oerding and Levin Deger will be on the 360° stage in 2016. Comment and let us know if you’re going to one of the shows or if you’ve been to one already.

Once more, thank you SEAT for the invitation, you certainly don’t only have great cars, but you’ve also managed to set up an incredible live-music event. Kudos!

(Translated from Dutch) Michael Grimm as artist of great qualities have proves the fact that he won in 2010 ‘America’s Got Talent’. The 36-year-old American singer Michael Grimm from Henderson, Nevada shifts on his sixth album already the focus of soul and blues to more rock-oriented music.

The best surprise choice picks for me – splendid.

The album ‘Grimm’ are twelve songs written by Michael Grimm along with singer-songwriter and guitarist Kevin Hunter. The music of Michael Grimm is sincere and most importantly the singer sets the bar very high for his music. It’s almost inevitable that we are going to hear a lot of the unique talent of Michael Grimm.

My favorite tracks are on the album ‘The Tide’ and ‘High School Stories.

Michael Grimmtag:michaelgrimmmusic.com,2005:Post/64547672015-08-24T11:40:00-07:002022-03-21T01:08:41-07:00Belgium reviews Grimm Album
Het liedje waarmee hij de finale won, was “When A Man Loves A Woman” van Percy Sledge.

You can hear why it made sense to send Grimm on tour with Stevie Nicks and Heart after his 2010 AGT win.

Sometimes the retro qualities of Grimm’s work are explicit, as with the clear echoes of Bad Company in “The Tide,” the bass quote from the O’Jays’ “For The Love Of Money” in the ironically themed “Generation Next,” and the rhythmic borrowing from the old Supremes hit “My World Is Empty Without You” in “She Drives Me Crazy” (which borrows only its title from the Fine Young Cannibals hit). But there’s nothing wrong with paying homage to great predecessors, and anyway there’s enough originality in most of the songs (written primarily by Grimm and Kevin Hunter) to keep the term “retro” at just enough of a distance.

Stylistic twists give some of the songs an interesting element of surprise, too. “Tragic Figures” offers a curious juxtaposition of a plodding garage-rock beat and a Police-like melody, with unexpected cross-rhythms sneaking in as well.

An unthreatening, often gentle tone informs the sensibility of the album overall, exemplified in the mid-tempo pop-rock of “Black and White” and the easy adult-contemporary groove of “Lonely.” But a welcome variety of styles and influences rises from this bed – blue-eyed soul, ’70s guitar pop, blues, even slippery country-rock. (“Roses” makes me think of Alannah Myles’s “Black Velvet.”) There are some fine choruses, as in “Black and White.”

Grimm addresses his evident love of past musical trends explicitly in the dream lyrics of “1982,” with music that echoes the soft new-wave of Billy Joel’s 1980 Glass Houses album: “It’s a retro reality…Say my good mornings to yesterday…She said my future was missing me, come on.”

I’m sure part of my positive response to Grimm comes from the fact that I grew up listening to the kinds of music it pays tribute to. But another part of it arises from the high-quality songwriting and musicianship, the melodicism, the literate lyrics, and the strong vocals – a pretty powerful formula.

“I have to tell people to make sure they put ‘music’ after my name,” he laughs, and the musical Grimm has reason to smile these days, with a new album, Grimm, recently released and five dates in his adopted home state of Nevada before he takes his show on the road in September. More importantly, he’s running his own ship, and he likes it.

“I’m not with a major record company,” he said. “I did this album on my own, so I really had no corporation looking down on me, telling me what to do this time around, and I love having that freedom and I think any artist loves having that freedom. It (making Grimm) was a long ride. It took us eight months of a good two albums’ worth of material just to get the one album down. We had a great time putting it together, it was an emotional ride, and I’m very proud of the project.”

He should be, as the new record hits all the right notes, whether you’re a fan of rock, pop, soul or anything in between. This eclectic mix could have produced a disastrous result, but when you could sing a grocery list and make it compelling like the 36-year-old Grimm can, it all works, making this a collection of tunes that can appeal to anyone and everyone in a particular household. Of course, that could also be a kiss of death for an artist not easily categorized in a music world that apparently needs categories, but Grimm’s fanbase has stayed strong and consistent, raising over $46,000 for him through Kickstarter to get the new record done and out to the world.

“I was very scared about that,” he admits. “But it was very humbling in the end, because it worked. It’s overwhelming, actually. When that went through, I said I can’t believe after more than five years since I was on that TV show, America’s Got Talent, that they’re still out there and still want more material from me and are supporting me.”

Grimm was just on “that TV show,” but he won the fifth season of AGT in 2010. It was undoubtedly a great moment for someone who had paid his dues and put out two albums while playing the Vegas scene for over a decade, but the winners of such talent shows are often put into the graveyards of what could have been, with only a select few able to parlay that national television exposure into long and successful careers. Grimm has navigated his share of bumpy roads since winning the show, but the fact that he’s still here and still putting out good music bodes well for him being one of those “long and successful” folks and not the answer to a trivia question.

“I realize that a lot of these acts that go on these shows, you don’t hear from them anymore, and I think a lot of them just get discouraged,” Grimm said. “If there’s any secret with me, it’s that I get up and I just keep going every day. Music is all I know and I’ve been doing this for 25 years. It’s a long road and it’s been good to me, and there’s no giving up. That’s the key.”

Singer/Songwriter Michael Grimm
Album Cover: GRIMM

Michael Grimm charmed millions of viewers as a contestant on season five (2010) of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Grimm was awarded the coveted prize of being the winner of “America’s Got Talent” at the end of the show’s season five. It was his soulful voice that this publication believes was why he received this well-deserved recognition during the show. Moving fast forward to 2015, Grimm released his latest album, GRIMM, which features of ton a great songs written and performed by the talented artist. His first single, “Generation Next,” can be heard on his official website. We spoke to Grim about his music, his influences, and other fun facts in this cool spotlight.

Isaac: What are you most thankful for both personally and professionally?

Michael: I’m thankful for having lived a life full of love and heart ache and being able to express those feelings, which make us feel so alive, three song.

Isaac: I would like to ask you for the readers of this online publication who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words:

Michael: honest, heartfelt, soulful, emotional and melodic.

Isaac: With respect to musical icons, who would you consider to be your most significant musical influences?

Michael: I grew up in South Mississippi listening to George Jones, the Neville Brothers, and my all-time favorite Otis Redding

Isaac: We think your music transcends and elevates on such a positive and enriching level. What do you believe is the greatest aspect to what makes listening to your music enjoyable?

Michael: I surround myself with the best song writers and musicians in the business. That is what ensures a great song to listen to!

Isaac: Let’s talk music videos. Why do you think music videos are still important factor in one’s music career?

Michael: I think they add a visual dimension to the song allowing the viewer, or listener, to experience the song using other senses.

Isaac: What are some of the feedback and reactions you have received concerning some of your music videos?
Michael: For the most part, I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback on my videos but I don’t know as much about directing music videos as I do writing songs. In my opinion, I believe that music videos can only help promote a song.

Isaac: I am interested to know who you are listening to at the moment. What bands and artists should we have our ears on right now who you think deserve the spotlight?

Michael: Mark Broussard and Alabama Shakes.

American Songwriter Michael Grimm

Isaac: Since you write your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?

Michael: I draw inspiration from every day experiences, the people around me, and pretty much life! My favorite part of the process is collaboration. They say two brains are better than one, and a second brain certainly allows for another aspect, idea or concept that I may have not seen. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don’t. It all depends on where the song takes me.

Isaac: If you could go open up for any artist on tour right now who would it be?

Michael: Alabama Shakes.

Isaac: So, what’s your favorite thing to do when you aren’t writing/producing/playing etc?

Michael: I love to go camping with my wife and our two dogs. There’s something very special about camping here in the West!

Isaac: Now for our non-music question: Name five things you can’t live without?

Michael: Family, friends, laughter, seafood gumbo, and music!

Isaac: What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into when you are performing or on the road that you can let us in on?

Michael: One time I open for the band Heart and broke a string in front of 15,000 people. It was so embarrassing but I made it through the set and sold more CDs that night than I ever had before! I was expecting a riot, but instead I got full support.

Isaac: Knowing what you know now, would you do it again (Making music)?

Michael: Absolutely! I really feel blessed to have lived a life doing what I’m so passionate about. I do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Isaac: If you were not performing, what do you think you would be doing professionally and why?

Michael: I come from a blue-collar family of offshore man. Maybe a fisherman? I have a secret passion for science; an insatiable curiosity about life and our universe- perhaps with the right role models, I would’ve become a physicist or scientist of some sort.

Isaac: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Michael: Never cruel nor cowardly. Never give up, never give in! – Dr. Who

Isaac: Dr. Who ROCKS!

Isaac: Ten years from now you will be….

Michael: I learned from my past to only prepare for the future but I only live in the moment. I never really thought about that, but I’ll keep going until the powers that be stop me.

Isaac: As a great send off, tell us about one of your greatest moments as a performer.

Michael: The greatest moments, for me, was shared with America when they voted for me to win America’s Got Talent in 2010. I will always be grateful to those who made that happen!

Michael Grimm’s new CD, Grimm, features a dozen pop, rock and blues songs. Key tracks include Black and White, The Tide and The Wind.

Press Release – With his soulful voice and earthy, Southern manner, MICHAEL GRIMM charmed millions of viewers as a contestant on season five (2010) of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Flash forward to 2015: he released his latest album, GRIMM, via his Mattikay Records label to online retail outlets worldwide. Funded by fans through Kickstarter, the highly anticipated album was recently launched with the release of the first single, “Generation Next,” which can be heard on his official website. A video for the track can be seen on MICHAEL’s official YouTube page.

“This album has been in the works for many years,” MICHAEL exclaims. “Most of the songs you will hear on this album were written by Kevin Hunter and myself. Eight months went in to working on the music production and album artwork, and I’m extremely proud to present my newest album, GRIMM. We couldn’t have done this without the fans! Thank you so much.

To coincide with the release of GRIMM, MICHAEL will be announcing future tour dates where he’ll be performing songs from the latest album, as well as some of his well-known classic cover tunes, including “Stay With Me (Baby),” “Gasoline and Matches,” and “You Can Leave Your Hat On.” He also performs a couple of songs with wife Lucie, who he proposed to on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” shortly after his “America’s Got Talent” win.

“I couldn’t think of a more complimentary venue for the new look, style and sound of the new album,” MICHAEL says. “Can’t wait to see you all there!”

Thanks to his first-place finish on “America’s Got Talent,” MICHAEL took home the $1 million prize and headlined the first-ever U.S. “America’s Got Talent Tour.” Following the trek, he toured with Stevie Nicks and Heart, performing in front of tens of thousands of fans across the country.

After releasing five albums on his own (which are available on his website, Amazon and iTunes), MICHAEL’s self-titled major label debut album was released in the spring of 2011 on Sony/Epic Records and reached #14 on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart. It was produced by Grammy® Award winning producer Don Was (The Rolling Stones, Elton John, B.B. King) and featured some legendary talent, including Ann Wilson (Heart), Ian McLagan (Faces, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer), Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello), and Greg Leisz (The Eagles), Kenny Aronoff on drums and Waddy Wachtel on guitar.

Out of the gate Michael Grimm is one of the most impressive emerging artist I have heard in quite some time. He won the America’s Got Talent contest in 2010 and he has developed with ligthning speed since then. His first release came out in 2007 and with the latest release Grimm, I am certain his popularity will spike.

Grimm’s funky, soulful and bluesy delivery is deeply textured and emotive. He has the the all around the talent to be a worldwide superstar and I think that is right around the corner.

On the CD insert Grimm comments that this album is not what people are accustomed to hearing, it is a different sound on this album compared to others. With this “new” sound he has created with his band, I am quite certain new and old fans alike will find plently to enjoy.

“Black and White” (featured on our Rate The Tracks site) is one of the focal points of the album and with good reason. This track focuses on the many talents of Grimm. The musicianship is superb as it is throughout this entire album however everything about this particular track just sparkles and shines.

“Lonely” is not a cry for help it’s letting you know its ok to feel what you feel and makes it ok be lonely. The music pulls you in and helps to ease the pain of this emotion if you happen to be feeling it.

“Goodbye Sammy” is funky and fast moving. The vocals are outstanding and what I heard was a more difficult cadence from Grimm. He shows how versatile his styles can be within in one song. The music drives it all along and works from strength to strength.

“Bliss” is another fine outing that brings different flavors to the table. Once again great musicianship and powerful vocals rule the day. This is the tone of the entire album, strong and true from track to track.

Grimm is a five star performance from beginning to end. I heard no weaknesses in any aspect of this album; the presentation from top to bottom was a pure and pristine recording from star talent at every position. This is the kind of music you can never tire of because it is eclectic and consistently entertaining.

5/5 Stars

Not too bad, not too bad at all. I’ve heard a few of Michael Grimm’s recordings over the years and it sounded like he was putting the blues back in rock. New music is so often a drag and chore to sit through, so it’s good to hear these current musicians embrace the past. They were simpler times for everyone involved.

While his classmates were outside playing regular children’s games, Grimm was busy shut up in his room learning how to play a guitar given to him by Nashville country gospel goddess, Ann McNair. Over a short amount of time he found himself capable of playing his favorite and his career has been on a rocket ride ever since. From America’s Got Talent to a span of several successful albums with accompanying tours his star began getting bigger. On his latest record Grimm he serves an enticing soul food meal of blues, funk, pop and rock. He calls upon several genres for his unique sound, yet never ripping off his peers and expanding on traditions.

“Generation Next” is an arena rocking anthem right out of the gate. This tune feels crafted for a couple of thousand people singing along at the top of their lungs. The guitars have a salsa, reggae type style to them and the rhythm section breaks it down into a funky, affecting blues. When the chorus hits the song takes off into the stratosphere. A dirt road, lover’s lament jam “She drives me Crazy” raises the energy level to a crest that is brought into tranquil pastures thanks to the warm, fluffy pop of the single “Black and White.” You can tell there is a definite and finite message to Grimm’s work and the lyrical imagery used in his tunes.

As the album creeps in on the halfway point the heavy hard rock guitar is melded with a downhome blues on tracks such as “The Tide,” “Roses,” “Tragic Figures,” “Goodbye Sammy” and “Bliss.” “The Tide,” “Roses” and “Goodbye Sammy” go way back from the blues, culling the mountainous guitar figures and fat rhythms of the early to mid-70s legends. “Tragic Figures” toys with playful jazz textures and swaying rhythms that keep pushing and pulling against the rhythmic backdrop. “Bliss” takes the earlier pop structuring and combines the resulting harmonic touches with some muscular rock. Closer “Brother Wind” is a sparse, saddened piece about lost love (perhaps either a breakup or death, hard to tell) and it a stripped-down, raw-to-the-bone country song with more than a smattering of the genre’s patented heartbreak in tow. This cut is quite frankly one of the best in the Grimm album’s arsenal.

Michael Grimm treads a lot of ground on his latest release. He doesn’t stick to one thing doggedly, instead mixing up the style seamlessly whenever it is needed most to attain song differentiation. There is enough gruff, gritty rock here to please the set that thinks such music died in ’79. And the younger crowd who yearn for feel good, spirt lifting hooks will find a dense plethora throughout Grimm’s twelve inspired tracks. There is nothing much to complain about with this disc. There is no shortage of high wattage electric guitar and gutsy vocals, but Michael smooths everything into a shine with his penchant for delivering bristling, bouncy melodies. He still has room for growth. As it stands, this is a great statement from him in the right here and now.

8 out of 10 stars.

Michael Grimm has made quite a name for himself in a very short amount of time. Unlike a lot of the vapid performers that grace the stage of America’s Got Talent, Grimm is a genuine musician, writer and singer that first got national notice because of the aforementioned show. He’s been on tour with Stevie Nicks and Heart, played with many distinguished players on his prior album Michael Grimm and on his latest record Grimm he brings soul n’ grit back to the rock climate.

Opener “Generation Next” kicks off with a funky, all business bass line before Grimm’s guitar follows up with jangly licks befitting of a reggae artisan. The chorus is instantly affecting, delivering hard rock riffs in tandem with a soaring vocal presence that makes the moment instantly stick to the brain. This is just the kind of lively, lucid grooves that could save modern rock radio if DJs are approaching their playlists with an open mind. Possessing more bravado and classic grooves than country music has today, “She Drives me Crazy” borrows its twang from rural music but splits the electric licks between vintage ock, ska and reggae in order to create a passionate boogie overflowing with killer lyrical hooks.

“Black and White” mingles sullen acoustic/electric guitars with a vibrant rhythm section that’s shaded in autumnal light like an evening sky bathed in rays of orange, auburn sun. As a ballad it has a nice rise and fall, the chorus riff-y and elevated, leaving the verse to build a charming, smokestack darkness that’s about as blue collar honest as it gets in terms of rock n’ roll. If you ran Mellencamp, Springsteen, Bonamassa, The Outlaws and Leslie West through a blender, you might end up with the crunching, southern blues of “The Tide” and “Roses.” These tunes are all about the big bluesy backbreaking riffs…tougher than an adrenaline charged construction worker but with the finesse of an Olympic runner, Grimm’s take on surly blues sneers when it needs to and slinks in all of the right places. “Roses” also has a rollicking solo that’ll put you flat on your back and Michael’s voice climbs to some of the highest peaks on the entire record during the chorus.

Calling on the unearthly powers of Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott, the punch-drunk, radio ready soul of “High School Stories” certainly reminds of Lizzy’s knack for composing big hits that still had more than a surplus of rock in their back pockets. “Lonely” reverts back in time to Grimm’s noted country influences with glimmering acoustic guitar sailing across the rippled waves of a trippy funk rhythm. Combining a stuttered, waltz tempo (thanks to a pounding, slightly staccato beat) with twinkling blues licks and riff rock, “Tragic Figures” is a heavy slammer benefitting from an uplifting chorus. The style of rockin’ takes a page from 50s hip shaking in the pyrotechnic “Goodbye Sammy,” Grimm updating the malt-rock twist to the sound of the explosive 70s based hard rock legends. Grimm is rounded out by the subtle balladry of “Bliss,” the hefty boogie of “1982” and acoustic closer “The Wind” which is truly a show stealer in its own right.

There’s really no faulting this record. Perhaps one or two songs could be a bit more memorable but otherwise Grimm is full of variety, style and sizzle. It’s the kind of rock n’ roll that everybody is afraid to make any more in the wake of the post grunge malaise brought on by Nickelback and Creed. These aren’t the riffs that you hear on the radio; Michael Grimm has a rough edge and spirit that’s hard to match. If you like your rock with an emphasis on ROCK, then this album is a must hear.

Grimm is the fifth album released by Colorado-born singer-songwriter and America’s Got Talentwinner Michael Grimm. The album begins with “Generation Next.” a track that was clearly calculated to be a single with its catchy chorus and anthemic style which attempts to lyrically unify the artist and the listener. Instrumentally, the track is solid with a great, funky bass line and a smooth, albeit truncated, guitar solo. Grimm changes things stylistically on the next track, “She Drives Me Crazy” which has a surprisingly modern indie-sounding guitar intro that the more varied listener may be able to pick out as representing the sound of Vampire Weekend, but Grimm diverts from this track in favor of a climbing melody and chorus set to a toe-tapping drum beat.

“Black and White” features slow strumming and ethereal backing vocals that set the tone for a measured story detailing a past heartbreak and a slew of shattered expectations all while Grimm pleads for vibrancy. Characteristically uncharacteristic, the album fluctuates from the aforementioned toned-down, torch-carrying requiem to a more traditional blues sound. With a crunchy, dirty bit of soul guitar, Grimm delivers an autobiographical sermon with “The Tide” in the style of some of John Mayer’s later work, replete with an obvious vocal quaver. “Roses” continues the traditional sound found on the previous track with a stuttering, but old fashioned, rhythm and some light guitar improvisation, giving the listener the most recognizably blue track.

The title of “High School Stories” may instantly bring to mind Bryan Adams’ smash hit “Summer of ‘69,” but this bittersweet bit of nostalgia places the narrator in the present tense and, although accompanied by up-tempo strumming, the lyrics allude to an act of betrayal. “Lonely” shifts to a much lower gear as an ode to isolation and happy tears, with a steel-string support; although absent, the listener can feel the presence of living dreams and dead memories. “Tragic Figures” continues the more pain-centered focus of the heart of the album, but does so with an up-and-down melody and a collective chorus. The track is also notable for featuring the second guitar solo of the album, this one containing a progressive arpeggio before it is quickly interrupted by a welcome contribution from the bass player. “Goodbye Sammy” is another example of the excellent bass work on this album as it is used in a more conspicuous manner. The guitar begins as a supportive underlay, then takes on a “My Sharona” riff, before sliding into a brief solo.

“Bliss” opens the last quarter of the album as an acoustic Seal-like ballad with a belting chorus and gentle vibrato. The song begins with a metronome-like ticking which perfectly exemplifies the way in which the guitar and vocals perfectly sync up, both speaking the same language: “Bliss” also contains the best and lengthiest guitar solo on the album. In “1982,” Grimm wrings every bit of island sound out of his strings overtop a grumbling bass rhythm. The album concludes with the entirely acoustic ballad of lost love, “The Wind,” ending the album with an introspective, lamenting note. Fans of easy-listening rock and light blues will enjoy this contribution from an experienced songwriter and musician.

He’s beginning a residency at the 600-seat rock club that lasts through the end of August. The nights are 8:30 Fridays through Sundays, plus 6:30 Saturdays.
The 2010 champion of “America’s Got Talent,” Grimm is remains a dichotomy, onstage and off. He is blessed with rare, penetrating vocal qualities and a real knack for delivering classic rock and R&B songs. He’s also a terrific songwriter, as his new release “Grimm” reminds. Grimm feels the music and makes you feel it, too, but between songs he puckishly apologizes for his perceived (by him) lack of stage presence.

“I’m sorry,” he says, more than once, “but I’m not good with words.” But such moments only pull the audience closer, as Grimm is forever the guy you want to succeed, at whatever level.

Grimm’s show is further boosted by the presence of his wife, Lucie, who is becoming more of a presence in Grimm’s career as a stage performer and also in helping to book his shows. He has given her credit for lining up this gig at Vinyl, and Lucie hits the stage in the show in two dance sequences. The most tantalizing is during Grimm’s cover of “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” in which she performs an abbreviated striptease.

“I am forgetting what I’m singing,” Grimm laughed while watching Lucie groove across the stage in Friday’s performance. “I didn’t expect this.” But expect some stripped-down, live music from Grimm and his three-piece backing unit. The man, the album and even the band are just called “Grimm,” and it’s simple enough.

Fans successfully funded the “Generation Next” Kickstarter campaign and the recording of Michael’s latest album was underway. This upcoming June release is a labor of love, the culmination of many months of intense collaboration between Michael, Jamie, Drew, and new band members Carlos Guerrero and Colin Hotchkiss. The inspiration of such consummate musicians and the melding of their creative minds brings full expression to Michael’s life experiences and evolving perspective.
