At a very young age, Michael knew that it wasn’t enough to sing. He knew he had to learn guitar and eventually started writing his own songs and music. Over the years, Michael has explored many avenues and drawn on all kinds of inspiration to help him perfect his writing style. Today, Michael continues to write much of his own music, developing lyrics and melody on his own or with the collaborative efforts of other song-writers and artists, like Kevin Hunter, who has co-written many songs with Michael.
Sometimes when music gets to be too much, Michael expels his artistic energy in other ways. As a kid, he always had a talent for drawing, but never tapped into it until recent years. Painting, sketching and creating works of art have fueled Michael’s imagination and allowed him to express himself in a multitude of ways. On occasion, you will find his works on the cover or insert of one of his albums (such as Gumbo and Grimm) or in rare moments, up for public sale or auction.
